Series Overview
Communication adapters are available to allow connection of Ethernet, Profibus, Modbus, Serial, and DeviceNet devices. Three different Ethernet solutions give you flexibility to connect to any available Ethernet media.

2500 Series - Classic, CTI
2500P-ACP1 Application Coprocessor
The 2500P-ACP1 module is a general-purpose auxiliary controller that enhances the capabilities of all CTI 2500 Series® and SIMATIC® 505 PLC systems. This Advanced Function Module includes high-speed processing and multi-protocol communications support to provide existing systems with a significant increase in performance, features, and functionality.
2500P-ACP1 Application Coprocessor
The 2500P-ACP1 module is a general-purpose auxiliary controller that enhances the capabilities of all CTI 2500 Series® and SIMATIC® 505 PLC systems. This Advanced Function Module includes high-speed processing and multi-protocol communications support to provide existing systems with a significant increase in performance, features, and functionality.
2500P-ECC1 Ethernet Communications
The 2500P-ECC1 Ethernet Communications Coprocessor provides state-of-the-art features and performance for Ethernet communication when using CTI 2500 Series® Processors. It uses a dynamic memory cache to give extremely quick response to queries from HMI systems, with no dependence on CPU scan time. It also provides a fully configurable interface for setting up Modbus-TCP, and CAMP client/server communications. Most importantly, it features a completely new facility which provides peer-peer network communications between PLCs using a new "report on change" protocol - Network Data Exchange.
2541 Redundant Processor
The 2541 Redundant Processor Manager (RPM) provides an automatic backup solution for 2500 Series® PLCs. If the active PLC fails, the RPM will automatically switch the remote I/O to the standby PLC. Transfer to the standby PLC is bumpless. All remote I/O updates are mirrored to the standby PLC. In addition, up to 4096 words of user-defined critical data can be transferred from the active PLC to the standby PLC every scan. Other non-critical data can be transferred over several scans. The RPM can also switch up to two serially attached operator interface devices
2572-A Fast Ethernet
The 2572-A Ethernet TCP/IP Adapter is the next generation 2572 network interface module for 2500 Series® or Simatic® 505 controllers. The 2572-A provides connectivity to Ethernet networks using IEEE 802.3, Ethernet II and Transmission Control/Internet Protocol standards, at 10M or 100M speeds. IMPORTANT NOTE: 2572-A HAS BEEN MATURED. IT IS REPLACED BY 2572-B or 2500P-ECC1, WHICH SHOULD BE USED ON ALL NEW DESIGNS.
2572-AF Fast Ethernet
The 2572-AF Ethernet TCP/IP Adapter with Optical Fiber Connection is the next generation 2572 network interface module for 2500 Series® controllers. The 2572-A provides connectivity to Ethernet networks using IEEE 802.3, Ethernet II and Transmission Control/Internet Protocol standards, at 10M or 100M speeds. IMPORTANT NOTE: 2572-AF HAS BEEN MATURED. IT IS REPLACED BY 2572-B or 2500P-ECC1, WHICH SHOULD BE USED ON ALL NEW DESIGNS.
2572-B Fast Ethernet
The 2572-B Fast Ethernet TCP/IP Adapter is the next generation Ethernet network interface module for 2500 Series® or Simatic® 505 controllers. The 2572-B provides connectivity to Ethernet networks using IEEE 802.3, Ethernet II and Transmission Control/Internet Protocol standards, at 10M or 100M speeds.
2572 Ethernet TCP/IP
The 2572 Ethernet TCP/IP Adapter is a network interface module for 2500 Series® or Simatic® 505 controllers. The 2572 provides connectivity to Ethernet networks using IEEE 802.3, Ethernet II and Transmission Control/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) standards. IMPORTANT NOTE: 2572 HAS BEEN MATURED. IT IS REPLACED BY 2572-B or 2500P-ECC1, WHICH SHOULD BE USED ON ALL NEW DESIGNS.
2573-MOD Serial Interface
The 2573-MOD provides support for communicating with serial and Modbus plant floor devices such as modems, bar code readers, scales, displays, printers, and other PLCs.
2576 DeviceNet™ Scanner
The 2576 allows a 2500 Series® PLC to read I/O devices on a DeviceNet™ network. The module provides one DeviceNet™ channel which can attach up to 63 network devices. Multiple modules can coexist in the same I/O chassis. IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS PRODUCT WAS MATURED ON DECEMBER 31, 2019 AND SHOULD NOT BE USED IN NEW DESIGNS.
2577 Profibus DP
The 2577 allows a Profibus Master to read any PLC V, WX, X, and C memory location and write any V, WY, and C memory location over Profibus.
2500 Series - Compact, CTI
2500C-2572-B Fast Ethernet
The 2500C-2572-B Fast Ethernet TCP/IP Adapter is a Compact version of the Classic 2572-B Fast Ethernet TCP/IP Ethernet Adapter, which provides network services to CTI 2500 Series®Compact PLCs. Using the TCP/IP protocol, suitably configured network stations can acquire data from the PLC, send data and programs to the PLC, and exercise supervisory control over the PLC operation. In addition, the PLC can use the 2572-B to access data in other PLC systems equipped with a CTI 2572-B, 2572-A, 2572 or 505-CP2572 modules.
